These measures correspond to a cardigan size zero, just for newborns. I hate to see the newly born babies, still almost in a fetal position, lost in the clothes, where everything is wide and long.
Chosen the wool, needles and the kind of work that we do, (the first two do not always have to match what the label suggests as there is an important factor to consider which is that our own way of knitting more loose or tighter). I started doing a sample to see how many stitches would have to put the needle to get the width and height desired. The point chosen is called the point of foam/mousse or whatever name you have in your respective countries. 10 stitches per 10 rows. Although being a knitter for a few years now and experience tells me how it will result, as I hate do restart, the most secure method is to make a sample. It can be annoying, but it works. I let the sample "resting" a little bit to accommodate all the stiches, and then measure it - 5cms. X 5cms. Then just multiply.
1 - na sequência da volta já feita, acrescentei 10 malhas novas.
Thus, starting :
1 - following the row already made, I added 10 new stiches.
2 - vamos acrescentar outras 10 que correspondem à outra manga.
2 - we'll add another 10 stiches correspondent to the other sleeve.
3 - Let us make the second increase for each side: Now I added 15 stitches
We thus have in total with 95 stiches (25 for the left sleeve, 45 ref. the body and amother 25 correspondent to the right sleeve.)
I decided it would be the 16th. row (32 laps) after starting the increases for the sleeves (or at 42 rows - 82 laps - total. course, always counting the rows on the same side)
Knitted 40 stitches, terminated 15 (on a loose way on order not to twitch) for the neck and knit the other 40.
8- are knitted all the stiches up to those terminated for the neckline
Here you can see the loop added.
In the image is not completely visible that I have already all the loops, of which I apologize.
With the 7 loops " I have added half of the stiches which were terminated on th neckline - nr. 5, because of course I am working only half the coat. Therefore I have 46 stitches.
13 - And terminate the other 10.
So let's do 26 rows (52 laps) and then terminate all on a sole row.
It's concluded one side of the cardigan.
Terminadas que estejam as 4 carreiras, iniciamos os aumentos através das laçadas. Estas serão feitas repetindo os pontos nºs. 9 e 10.
Being finished the 4 rows, we start the addings through the loops. These will be added as per steps 9 and 10.
